this project is not about replacement — it is about transformation. located on the outskirts of Jerusalem, the complex reinterprets aging residential buildings that no longer meet contemporary construction standards, while preserving the underlying logic of the place.

the new development consists of four residential buildings rising to eleven floors. the upper two levels are dedicated to penthouses with private terraces, opening the living space toward the landscape and the distant horizon. below, the structure is defined by a system of articulated balconies that extend outward, creating a layered and dynamic façade.

these balconies are not a formal gesture. they are shaped by a precise cultural requirement — each apartment is provided with a minimum of 3 square meters of open sky exposure, allowing the construction of a sukkah during Sukkot. this condition directly informs the geometry of the façade, where rotations and offsets are not arbitrary, but necessary.

the project negotiates between regulation, tradition, and contemporary living. it does not impose a new identity on the site, but builds upon what already exists — structurally, culturally, and spatially. the result is a housing complex that aligns with modern standards while remaining deeply rooted in the rhythms and practices of its context.
